Connaisseur

"Connaisseur" almanac is a modern publication offering a fresh view on Russian Émigré and Soviet Culture.‍

The brief was to design each spread as a modern interpretation of the mood and the style of a particular theme.

Based on precise research about book and magazine typography of the Soviet times, was created original typography for the particular time period and the theme of each chapter. One of the challenges was to use the pre-selected archived imagery and copy and transform them into a modern design layout.

I turned this challenge into an opportunity to create a unique visual language for every spread that marked each chapter of the magazine.
